The Economist

The Coates Library has a site license that provides current access to the Economist whether on or off campus. Our subscription does not include access to audio editions nor apps.

Access is available to faculty, staff, and current students.

How Do I Access?

Click on the link below. You may be asked to authenticate by using your Trinity network login.

Please note the following:

  • If accessing the Economist from off-campus you will be prompted to authenticate by using your Trinity network login.

Attempting to sign in directly on the Economist site will not give you subscription access.

  • How do you know if you authenticated correctly and can see the complete article?

A red box at the end of an article indicates the end of the full-text article.

There will always be a "log in" link at the top - ignore it - you do not have to log in. As long as you see the red box at the end of the article you have access to the Economist.

  • If you are not authenticated appropriately you will see a "you must subscribe" message halfway down the article. If this occurs, please contact a librarian.

  • Links from the Economist Daily News email will not work if you are off-campus. Instead, you will need to use the Economist link above or add the following prefix to the links in the email:

https://trinity.idm.oclc.org/login?url=

Off-campus access is only available by IP authentication (not email domain). Therefore, you must use the specific proxied link given above. Attempting to sign in directly on the Economist site will not give you subscription access.
