RELI 2355/3354 The New Testament

Suggested strategies and sources for finding commentaries and other critical works on New Testament texts.

Three types of searches

Three main categories of searches that may prove fruitful, whether searching in our catalog or in journal databases:

textual searches, where you'll look for resources writing about a particular literary unit, such as the Gospel of John or a more specific chapter and verse(s);

thematic searches, such as the life of Jesus, or the Son of Man, or justification by faith, or the influence of Jewish thought on the Gospel of Matthew, or poverty;

genre searches, such as the parables, Synoptic Gospels, epistles of Paul, etc.
