Ithaca College's Project SHARP outlines 6 areas of media literacy:
1. Learn how to use media wisely and effectively
2. Engage in critical thinking when evaluating media
3. Evaluate the credibility of information from different sources
4. Recognize media's influence on beliefs, attitudes, values, behaviors, and the democratic process
5. Achieve greater understanding and appreciation for multiple perspectives
6. Learn to produce communication and express oneself using different forms of media
