ADOBE DIGITAL EDITIONS (ADE)

Some Ebook platforms require Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) to download and read Ebooks. ADE is free software that allows you to read Ebooks that have Digital Rights Management (DRM) attached. After installing ADE, you will be prompted to login with or to create an Adobe ID. 

Installing ADE:

  1. Go to the Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) Download page and select Windows or Mac to download. Click on that link to begin download/installation
  2. Double-click on the download ADE Installer to open. When prompted, click Run, and follow the installation instructions. 
  3. Select which options you wish to install. (Desktop shortcuts are recommended)
  4. If desired, click Browse to select where to install. Otherwise, click Install
  5. For many Advanced functions, such as transferring or reading E-Books between up to 3 other devices, you must activate your ADE ID. If you want to create an Adobe ID (do not do this if you are on a public computer) go to HelpAuthorize Computer, and click get an Adobe ID online
  6. Finally click, Activate

Using ADE: 

  1. Doubleclick on the icon on your desktop
  2. A box will appear the first time you open Adobe Digital Editions asking you to create an Adobe ID. Creating a free Adobe ID will allow you to view your downloaded eBooks on multiple computers or mobile devices. 
  3. The Library with your downloaded items should appear. You should see the cover image, title and author of the book. There will also be a banner listing the remaining checkout time.
  4. To read the full text, of the book, double-click on the on the cover image.
