Library Sticker Thing Award

This form contains information about the Library Sticker Thing and submission guidelines.

Submission Guidelines

Submissions: All mediums are welcome, from photography to crayons to digital art*. Just keep in mind that the final product should be suitable for a 3-inch sticker. Your final design submission will need to be uploaded as an image file. If you need assistance creating a high quality copy of your art, contact Visual Resources Curator Deanna Wilson at dwilson3@trinity.edu to schedule an appointment. For any other questions about submission, contact librarian Lacey Brooks-Canales at lbrooks1@trinity.edu

If you incorporate the work of others into your design, please be sure either to adhere to Fair Use, or to ensure that those works are in the public domain or carry an open license, such as Creative Commons. Check out the library's copyright guide for more information.

*The use of generative AI comes with a host of ethical, environmental, digital equity, and ownership/copyright issues that are still playing out in courts. For these reasons and more, priority consideration will be given to fully original designs.

Required Design Elements:

(1) Text: The text "Coates Library" must be visible on the sticker. The best placement is up to you.

(2) Shape: The sticker will be printed as a 3-inch circle. We encourage you to consider the scale when creating your artwork. It might be a good idea to print a 3 inch version of your design to ensure that your details and/or text are visible.

(3) Theme: The sticker should reflect the annual theme in some way. You don't need to take it too literally. Use your artists statement as an opportunity to explain how you incorporated an element of the theme.

Submission Process: To submit your work, fill out this Google Form. You will need to upload your image of the work (maximum of 2 designs) and an artist's statement. The artist’s statement should be 200 - 350 words, single-spaced, and explain the form (materials and process) and content (themes, relationship to the prompt). Collaborative submissions are allowed, as long as you're willing to share the prize!

Evaluation: The “Sticker Thing” Award Committee will evaluate submissions based on (1) suitability as a sticker (2) clarity of theme (3) quality of artist’s statement (4) overall artistic impression

2025 Theme

2025 Theme: The theme for the 2025 sticker is “Night at the Library”.

Late night study sesh? Can't put down a good book? We've all been there. We'd love to see your take on an evening at Coates Library- the glow of screens and reading by lamplight, the city lights outside, window sunsets, study groups, decaf coffee, stars, or quiet aisles. Show us what sparks your inspiration.
