Religion Subject Guide

Religion Periodicals

Students will usually find it more profitable to search a journal database, such as the ATLA Religion Database, than to browse the shelves in the journals areas. However, sometimes browsing can be valuable for observing what topics currently interest scholars or for ideas about possible research papers.

Current print issues of religion journals are found on the third floor in the Current Periodicals area between call numbers BL and BX.

Older issues are typically bound in volumes and shelved by these same call numbers in the Compact Shelving on the first floor.

PLEASE NOTE that a large number of our printed journals have been replaced by their online versions, so you'll find the most information by using our Journal Finder (see below).

Online Journals

You'll find many links to online versions of religion journals in the databases mentioned under that tab. However, if you'd like to browse a long list of the titles we receive online, follow these steps:

1. Go to the library's Journal Finder.

2. Click on the Journals by Subjects tab at the top of the next screen.

3. Choose "Philosophy and Religion" from the pull-down list.

3. Click on any of the religion categories displayed on the ensuing screen to browse titles.
