GEOS 3300: Oceanography

This guide will help you get started with your Research Vignette

Looking for Primary Articles?

Try one of the databases to the left, using keywords and subject terms related to your topic.  These databases search many different journals at once.

Looking for a specific journal? Search the Journal Finder for your journal and follow the links. If it's only available through ScienceDirect, be sure and fill out a request form.  Be sure to indicate on the form when you need the article.

If we don't have access to the journal you are looking for, you can always request a specific article from that journal using Interlibrary Loan.

Don't forget GoogleScholar

Put Google to work for you!  You can use GoogleScholar to look for papers in the scientific literature.

If you are off campus, make sure to set up GoogleScholar so that it will search Trinity's databases for access to the article.  To do that all you need to do is:

  • Go to
  • Click on "Settings" in the upper right hand corner
  • Click on "Library Links" on the left hand side
  • Search for Trinity University, check the appropriate box and click Save
  • Now when you search for an article, if we have electronic access you should see a link like this:
