CHEM 3432 / CHEM 4242: Analytical Chemistry

Google Scholar

Google Scholar is another option for finding scholarly articles. Follow these steps to link Google Scholar to the library's online collections:

  1. Go to Google Scholar.
  2. Sign in to Google with your T-Mail account.
  3. Click Settings.
  4. Go to Library Links.
  5. Search for Elizabeth Huth Coates Library and check the box.
  6. Click Save.

Google's regular web search can also find scholarly information with a few tricks:

  • Include operator to get results from only educational domains.
    • For example, type "analytical chemistry" "graphene nanotubes" into the search box.
  • Use quotes around a phrase to search that exact phrase like in the above example.
  • The library's databases and Google Scholar include vetted scholarly publications. You have to do your own vetting when searching the open web. Read more about evaluating web sites here.
