Navigate the literature on your topic by starting with a relevant article or author and then working backward or forward. Ask yourself:

What sources does my article or book cite? Check the bibliography for leads.
Which later articles or books cite the article I've found? Use the resources below.

Google Scholar
Scholar offers a strong known-item search capability. It can also find full text from around the web, making it useful whenever a library database comes up empty. Furthermore, its "Cited by" links will show you scholarly works that have cited the book or article you started from, some of which may be relevant to your project.

Scopus offers the same citation tracking feature as Google Scholar, but whereas Scholar is automated and indiscriminate about which citations count, Scopus only counts citations from peer-reviewed scholarship, making its counts smaller but "cleaner."
