Citation Examples

Unlike articles and books, business database information can be hard to cite properly. Here are a few typical examples of resources you might use for this course with simplified citation formats.

Note that references should be double-spaced if the text of the paper is also double-spaced.

MLA Format: [Note that the recently published 8th edition is much less prescriptive in requirements for citations, instead emphasizing clarity and consistency.]

APA Format

(Note that the inclusion of the database from which an article is retrieved is not required in the latest APA manual, but it is highly recommended as an aid in locating the article for your professor and is often preferable to the very long URLs for databases on the Coates Library website. I've included examples of both below; choose one or the other. If in doubt, ask your professor for guidance or preferences. Generally, consistency among your citations has the most importance.)
