The New York Times with Group Pass

The Coates Library at Trinity University has obtained an academic site license using NYTimes Group Pass. Group passes provides users with full access to NYTimes.com and the NYTimes.com smartphone app* Access is available to faculty, staff, and current students.

  • Once activated, you can enjoy access to NYTimes.com from any network or location for the duration of your license period (364 days for Faculty/Staff or until anticipated graduation date for students). 
  • There are mobile apps for iPhone/iPod Touch, Android, and Windows phones. 

*Does not include e-reader editions, Premium Crosswords or The New York Times Crosswords apps. Access to archived articles within the date range 1923-1980 is limited. Mobile apps for iPhone/iPod Touch, Android, and Windows phones are available. Other restrictions may apply.

Activate Your Account

  1. While connected to the school network, visit AccessNYT.com
  2. You will be asked to "find your school" by typing in Trinity University.
  3. Create an NYTimes.com account using your school email address. If you already have an NYTimes.com account using your school credentials, you may log in with those credentials. 
  4. When you see START YOUR ACCESS, the expiration time and date of your pass will appear
  5. Please note: If you are faculty/staff you must reactivate your pass each year, however, you no longer need to be on-campus to reactivate. If you are a student, your pass will expire on your anticipated graduation date. 

Smartphone Apps

Your Group Pass includes access to The New York Times via the NYTimes smartphone apps.

  1. Download your free smartphone app by visiting: http://www.nytimes.com/services/mobile/index.html, from your device. (Please note: The full NYTimes app may show up on your iPhone under Newstand, rather than as a separate app)
  2. Once you have downloaded the app make sure to log in using your credentials

Reactivate Your Account

  1. For faculty and staff only, once your pass expires you will need to reactivate your account
  2. Visit AccessNYT.com
  3. Click on "Already Have an Account? Log in here>>"
  4. Enter your NYTimes login credentials and your pass will be active again
