TechXtra
Search for articles, key websites, books, the latest industry news, job announcements, ejournals, eprints, technical reports, theses & dissertations, etc.  This site was developed through the library at Heriot Watt University and has a slight British bias.

Center for Design Research
This site from Stanford University is a good example of a university engineering department that maintains a center for research in design.

U.S. Patent and Trademark Office
Along with information about applying for patents, this site provides excellent search capabilities for its patent full-text and image databases. The full text of patents from 1976 to the present are available, as are full-page images of patents from 1790 to date. The images must be viewed with a TIFF plug-in, but links are given to free download sites.

Southwest Research Institute
A searchable site for the research, patents, and publications connected with this San Antonio facility.

Engineering Laboratories.
Links to engineering laboratories, both non-commercial and commercial.

Professional and Scholarly Societies.
Links to professional engineering societies.
